Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia involves a range of problems with thinking (cognition), behavior and emotions. Sings and symptoms may vary, but usually involve delusions, hallucinations or disorganized speech, and reflect an impaired ability to function.

While the church should be a place of compassion and support for families affected by this illness, many within the community of faith are just as fearful of schizophrenia as those outside the church. Some believers espouse the unfortunate notion that schizophrenia is associated with or caused by demon possession.

What should I do if I think I have schizophrenia?
Talk to a doctor as soon as you can. Talk to your family and friends about what your doctor says. Ask them to be patient as you deal with symptoms and to help you point out symptoms so you can report them to your doctor.
