FBC BRAZORIA YOUTH SUNDAYIn 2013, my church had a youth led Sunday morning service. My youth pastor told me I would be giving half the morning's message, while another youth student would give the latter half of the message.
I was inspired to write a message about faith, challenging my church with trusting God in every situation. |

TWO GUYS TALK ABOUT THE BIBLEEthan Winn, a friend of mine, posted something about the Old Testament law on his Instagram story. This post sparked a conversation that became a three week series I called, "Two Guys Talk About the Bible".
I would have loved to continue this series, but unfortunately, life caught up with Ethan and I and we haven't been able to get together for more content on this front. In the first "episode", Ethan and I discuss Old Testament Law. Are we still bound by it? Do we have to follow every letter of every law from Genesis to Deuteronomy? In the second "episode", Ethan and I discuss a theme of man's way versus God's way, which I dubbed "empire vs shalom", taking inspiration from Ray Vander Laan and Marty Solomon. Empire is man's way. Empire is about status. Shalom is God's way. He establishes very early on that He values us based on us, not our status or worth. In the third "episode", Ethan and I talk about the concept of joy. What is joy? What does it mean to have joy? Are Christians allowed to be sad or depressed? What happens if a Christian has depression? These conversations were wonderful! I enjoyed every second of them! It also gave me a feel for what synagogue was like in biblical times. No one person dominating the floor, but a conversation about the Bible and the contents therein. |

PANTANO STUDENTSFor a brief time in 2022, I served as the student ministry admin for Pantano Christian Church in Tucson, AZ. I was lucky enough to get to speak on the students stage for several different services.
One message I taught was called, "Chemical Imbalance". It was meant to be a two week series about depression and anxiety and how we can respond by running to God, but was reduced to one week due to scheduling conflicts. Another message I taught was part of a series called, "Know Love, Know God". It was a series comparing the traits of love from 1 Corinthians 13 to God. Surely, if God is love, as the Bible claims, those traits of love reflect the traits of God? That was the idea the series tackled. The student ministry intern, David Hughes, spoke on God not being self-seeking, the associate student pastor, Amy Barrett, spoke on God being kind and I spoke on God not keeping a record of our wrongdoings. |
